The continuous aspect: to continue for a whil

- Expresses the ongoing nature of an activity. we are aware of the passing of time; it also expresses incomplete and interrupted activities.

- Indicates an action that is, was or will be ongoing.

- the continuous aspect requires a form of the verb "to be" as well as the -ing form of the verb.

- note that it's the auxiliary verb "to be" that changes tense, while the main verb remains in its -ing present participle form.

The continuous aspect is expressed with the auxiliary be and the present participle -ing form of the verb. Depending on the time of the action, we use one of the following forms of be: the past (was, were), present (am, are, is) or modal + infinitive (e.g. will be).

The continuous aspect focuses on the duration of an event. It expresses that the action was, is or will be in progress at a specific point in time or over a period of time.

- يتم التعبير عن الجانب المستمر باستخدام الفعل المساعد (be) مع التصريف المضارع للفعل بإضافة (ing)، اعتمادًا على زمن الحدث نستخدم أحد الأشكال التالية:الماضي(was, were) ، الحاضر(am ، are ، is) ، أو مصدر الفعل (will be)

-يعبر الجانب المستمر عن مدة الحدث. و أن الحدث كان يحدث أو سيكون في وقت محدد أو خلال فترة زمنية محددة.

Examples:

➤ I'm staying with friends until I find a flat.(temporary)

➤ Don't call me at 8:00. I'll be eating (in progress)

➤ Who's been drinking my tea. (incomplete)

➤ While I was walking down the street, it began to rain. (interrupted)

➤ She must be waiting for me. (now)

أمثلة:

⬅ سأبقى مع الأصدقاء حتى أجد شقة.(فعل مؤقت)

⬅ لا تتصل بي في الساعة 8:00. سأكون حينها أتناول الطعام (في تقدم)

⬅ من كان يشرب الشاي الخاص بي.(غير مكتمل)

⬅ بينما كنت أسير في الشارع ، بدأت السماء تمطر. (فعل تم اقتطاعه)

⬅ هي تنتظرني حتمًا.(الآن)

The perfect aspect: to finish before time or another action.

- Expresses two ideas:

1- The action is completed before another time.

2- The exact time of the verb action is not important.

the perfect aspect refers to indefinite time.

- Indicates that an action is complete or leading toward an outcome.

التام: يعني هنا المقارنة بين فعلين تم واحد منهم قبل الأخر. و يعبر عن حدث تم قبل وقت أخر، أو عن الوقت المحدد الذي تم فيه الفعل ليس مهمًا، باستثناء الماضي التام.

- التام يعبر عن وقت غير محدد للفعل، و يشير إلى أن الفعل تم أو يؤدي نحو نتيجة.

- The perfect aspect is made up of the verb "to have" and the past participle of the main verb.

in the case of the regular verbs this means the form that ends in -ed.

The perfect aspect is expressed with the auxiliary have and the past participle form of the verb. Depending on the time of the action, we use one of the following forms of have: the past (had), present (have, has), modal + infinitive (e.g. will have) or -ing (having).

The perfect aspect focuses on the completion of an event. It expresses that the action had, has or will have been completed by a specific point in time, the exception is with the past perfect, it refers to a definite time in the past.

Examples:

➤ I had met him in 1992 at university.

➤ I've lived here for ten years. (from 10 years ago until now)

⬅ ربما فاته القطار. (في وقت ما قبل الآن)

Perfect continuous:to continue before another action.

- Combines the previous two aspects.

The perfect continuous is not considered as an aspect in itself; it is rather a combination of the perfect and continuous aspects.

التام المستمر: يعني أن هناك فعل استمر لفترة قبل فعل أخر.

- يجمع بين الجانبين السابقين. ولا يعتبر جانبا في حد ذاته ؛ إنه بالأحرى مزيج من الجانب التام والمستمر.

- it's formed using the perfect form of the verb "to be" in either the past, present of future form. and adding the present participle or -ing form of the main verb. The perfect continuous indicates an ongoing action that is almost complete or leading towards an outcome.

- It is expressed with the auxiliaries have and been (the third form of be) and the (present participle) -ing form of the verb. Depending on the time of the action, we use on of the following forms of have: the past (had), present (have, has) or modal + infinitive (e.g. will have).

- يتكون من الشكل التام للفعل "to be" سواء في الماضي أو المستقبل أو الماضي، مع إضافة التصريف المضارع أوالفعل مضافًا إليه "ing"، يشير التام المستمر إلى حدث مستمر يتكمل تقريبًا أو يقود إلى نتيجة

- يتم التعبير عن الجانب التام المستمر باستخدام الفعل المساعد (have and been) مع التصريف المضارع بإضافة (ing) للفعل، اعتمادًا على زمن الحدث نستخدم أشكال (have): في الماضي (had) في المضارع (have, has) أو مع المصدر (will have).
